Kia ora and welcome!

I am Eli and I am the owner of Front Foot English. I am based in beautiful Nelson, New Zealand, where I live with my wife, son and highly-energetic dog, Pip.

I have a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and am a registered high school teacher. I am very fortunate to have had many years of employment in a range of English language teaching roles around the world. I have also worked as a literacy coach and an education project manager.

A few years ago, I developed an interest in neuroscience and, in particular, the challenges facing dyslexic learners. I have since gained an appreciation for structured literacy and the science of reading.

In late 2021 I established Front Foot English. My vision was (and still is) to provide English language and reading tuition that is high-quality, highly-personalised and evidence-based. I have since worked with many interesting and incredibly inspiring learners based both here in New Zealand and all around the world.

When I’m not teaching or designing resources, I enjoy language learning, hiking, biking and water sports. I also coach football and volleyball.
